The most common tumours among children are different forms of haematological tumours, e.g., leukaemia. Of the tissue tumours, the most common ones are tumours of the brain, kidney, adrenal glands and extremities.
Service
Brain tumours may be malignant or benign. The symptoms caused by tumours vary depending on which part of the central nervous system the tumour is located in. The first symptom can be e.g. epileptic seizure, paralysis or any other neurological symptom.
Brain tumours are the second most common form of cancer among children, but they are still rather rare. Our hospital treats less than 10 paediatric patients with a brain tumour yearly.

We are responsible for the follow-up of patients who have sustained and been treated for injuries of the trunk and extremities, for bone tumours, for surgical infections and for burn injuries.
Unit
At the Neurology ward, we examine and care for patients with neurological diseases and symptoms. Typical health problems of our patients are disturbances of the blood circulation of the brain (stroke), brain tumours, epilepsy, inflammatory diseases of the central or peripheral nervous…
We treat patients with injuries of the trunk and extremities, bone tumors, surgical infections and burns.
You will need a referral from a physician for treatment at the Tyks university hospital and for laboratory, imaging and other diagnostic services.
