The unit for joint replacement surgery (3rd floor) is for patients with joint prostheses and for patients with complications associated with joint replacement surgery. The same floor houses an enhanced monitoring ward for follow-up of patients who need enhanced postoperative monitoring. The back (spine) surgery ward (4th floor) is for patients who have undergone back surgery (arthrodesis, spinal disc herniation and nerve entrapment surgery). The same floor harbors a ward for surgical patients who require ward care because of problems in their upper or lower extremities. Client fees Depending on your visit an outpatient visit fee or a daily inpatient fee will be charged. See client fees. Facilities The ward rooms on floor 3 and 4 are for 1–4 patients. The rooms have a toilet, shower and television set. The enhanced monitoring ward has room for 6 patients. For students As a student at our department you will be able to train and integrate your know-how related to specific patient care situations. You will have the opportunity to work with ward and outpatient clinic patients as well as with patients undergoing postoperative monitoring. We’ll appoint a mentor for you whose skills and experience you will benefit from. With your mentor you will be able to observe and manage patients before and after surgery and at the time of their discharge. It is our wish and recommendation that you plan your schedule so that you have as many shifts together with your mentor as possible.
