We treat patients with demanding infectious diseases. Problems related to differential diagnostics are also part of our everyday work.
These are the most common conditions we study and treat:
- HIV
- Prolonged fever of unknown cause
- Borreliosis
- Immune deficiencies
- Infections of travellers and migrants
- Follow-up treatment and follow-up of patients with severe infections having required hospital treatment
- Foreign body infections
About half of our patients are referred to us by physicians at health care centres and local hospitals. The remaining half attend for check-ups after treatment at a ward or after a visit to the emergency clinic.
Our aim is to make a swift assessment of the patient's condition and illness and to perform all necessary laboratory tests and imaging procedures within a minimum time frame.
The outcomes of the assessments, tests and imaging procedures are discussed personally with the patient either over phone or at a visit to the clinic. Usually the pertinent patient records are mailed to the patient's home address and to the health care centre or the referring physician.
We are a university hospital and participate in clinical and nursing trials related to our medical specialty. Participation in trials is voluntary and written informed consent is required of the participant.
