The unit provides advanced home care as an alternative to psychiatric ward care. Visits to the home of the patient are also made in the evenings at weekends. Our patients are usually over 70 years of age. Patients are admitted to us by referral from a physician. The most common reasons for ward care are: severe depression or anxiety bipolar illness psychosis, e.g., delusional conditions severe psychiatric symptoms associated with memory disorders alcohol and drug addiction problems of geropsychiatric patients. For students In psychiatric open care, the human person is the therapeutic tool and interactive skills are crucial. The student must be able to work individually and as a team member. The student needs to possess a real interest in geropsychiatric care and a thirst for learning. Students are bound by the same standards of confidentiality as all other personnel.
