Neuromodulation means altering the nervous system function. Neuromodulation therapy causes long-lasting but transient changes in the central nervous system function.

Neuromodulation therapies can be divided into two groups: non-invasive therapies, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct-current stimulation, and invasive therapies, in which an electrical stimulator is installed in the body.
