The Paediatric and Adolescent Emergency Department is situated at Tyks Lighthouse Hospital, and is part of the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. At the hospital, first you meet a nurse who assesses the need for treatment and its urgency. Patients are always treated in the order of urgency. Please always call first: 02 313 1420. We use a callback service: in other words, please leave a request to call you back. In an emergency, always call 112. Symptoms requiring urgent emergency care are: fever in infants under the age of three months (≥ 38 degrees C) fever and, despite effective fever medication (paracetamol + ibuprofen/naproxen), a weakened general condition (e.g. the child cannot stay awake and is uninterested in toys) difficulty in breathing chest pain sudden onset of severe or worsening abdominal pain suspicion of recent diabetes in a child: increased thirst, drinking and urination; fatigue; weight loss; and, as the situation progresses, stomach pain, vomiting and shortness of breath convulsion incident sudden onset of severe headache, difficulty in speaking, limpness of a limb, reduced ability to function unconsciousness snakebite heavy bleeding large injuries, fractures, wounds and burns psychological problems requiring urgent emergency care Emergency centres elsewhere In addition to the emergency department located at the children’s clinic, the Salo Hospital's emergency centre still serves families with children round the clock. The emergency centres in Loimaa and Vakka-Suomi are open to the public daily until 20:00.
