We plan holistically the management and rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

Medical professionals at the Physiatry Outpatient Clinic assess the overall needs for management and rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal conditions. This assessment considers especially the need for maintaining the functionality of patients to manage their activities of daily living. Based on discussions with the patient and clinical examination we book the necessary diagnostic examinations and may book the patient appointments, for example, for physiotherapy, ergotherapy or institutional rehabilitation. We also provide recommendations for continued care and rehabilitation to the patient’s family doctor.

Patients are usually reserved an appointment to a physiatrist based on a referral from a physician.

Rehabilitation assessment

A rehabilitation assessment unit at our outpatient clinic assesses the working capacity of clients of working age and examines their rehabilitation needs. Our clients are burdened by several diseases of different organ systems which impair their capacity to work and function.

As a medical student you may follow how a specialist physiatrist runs an outpatient clinic and manages patient work. You may also follow therapy sessions and learn about the patients' need and use of aids. Your role is to assist the physician of the rehabilitation department.

Some of the time is reserved for studying physiatry on your own.
