Home hospital care is a temporary, intensified form of treatment that replaces hospital-level in-patient care. Home hospital care is carried out when the patient's condition and treatment methods permit and with the patient's consent, during home visits or at a home hospital site.

The main treatment methods for patients being treated at the home hospital are the administration of intravenous medicines, fluids/nutrition or blood products.

This treatment can be obtained with a referral from a physician. The patient is treated by a specialist and experienced nurses. Activity takes place every day of the week between 7am and 9pm. During the night, the home hospital's support section is the hospital's internal medicine ward. During the home hospital treatment period, the patient is registered with Tyks Mäntymäki Hospital and, if necessary, the treatment can be switched to in-patient care. Patients must be able to manage independently between the treatment visits or with the help of family members, home care or their residential unit.
