Our ward operates round the clock. Patients come directly to our ward from the emergency department or with a doctor's referral. Common illnesses being treated in our ward include respiratory tract infections and other acute infectious diseases, long-term paediatric illnesses such as diabetes, as well as psychosomatic and neurological illnesses. A child may also be in our ward for the purpose of monitoring and examining various symptoms. In addition, our ward provides care for children and adolescents in need of acute rehabilitation. The treatment is provided by a specialist in paediatrics or paediatric neurology. The children are cared for by medical nurses and child nurses/practical nurses, and in addition a physiotherapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, nutritionist, psychiatric nurse, social worker and rehabilitation counsellor are also involved in the treatment if necessary. Our operational practices are multi-disciplinary and family-oriented. To improve and develop our work, we welcome feedback on care. We are part of the Tyks Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Client Fees A daily inpatient fee is collected from inpatient stay. Patients under 18 pay a maximum daily inpatient fee of 7 days a year. See client fees. Visiting Our ward has free visiting hours for the parents of the children. The parents can take part in caring for the child throughout the day as far as they are able, and one parent can spend the night in the child’s room. Visits by other close persons should be agreed upon with the ward. The hospital also offers other free-of-charge accommodation options for long-distance travellers. You can ask the care provider for more information. We ask people with an infection not to visit the ward. In addition, we ask all visitors to avoid using perfumes. At the ward As far as is possible, a daily programme based on your child's needs will be arranged for your child. In addition to examinations, treatment, and treatment guidance, your child has the possibility to play. In our ward, there is a play room with toys for children of different ages, a TV, games and films. You will be instructed in the use of the play room by our staff. There is also Wi-fi in the hospital. School-age children have the possibility to receive teaching under the guidance of a hospital school teacher. The rooms have locked cabinets for storing possessions. You can bring your child's own important items to the hospital, but you should label them. The ward has a small dining space for parents with the possibility to make coffee, a fridge and a microwave oven. The doctor's rounds take place on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Hospital personnel are bound by professional secrecy. Primarily, we only provide information about the child to the parents. For students In our unit, you can take internships in nursing children and young people. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to develop versatile skills in nursing children and families, especially basic care of children of different ages, drug calculations, drug handling, taking different samples and isolation practices. We expect a motivated, active and responsible attitude, interest in paediatric nursing, and the ability to request, give and receive feedback. We require that students who come to us have completed the theoretical studies in paediatrics, the theoretical studies and internships in internal medicine and surgery, as well as the drug calculations required in the courses.
