Eating disorders are conditions of a disturbed relationship to food, body weight and body image to such an extent that this poses a threat to the patient's health or function. The most common eating disorders are anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder (BED). The treatment periods at the eating disorders unit are brief. Treatment is intensive and focuses especially on the initial stages of the patient's disorder. Our aim is to gain control of the eating disorder, to correct the nutritional state and to create a plan for future management of the condition of the patient. Consultations Patients may attend for consultation visits to the eating disorders unit if the responsibility for their treatment is elsewhere. When the patient attends for a consultation visit, they are accompanied by a nurse or other health care worker from the consulting site. This will guarantee that the responsibility of care remains at the patient's unit of care. Telephone consultations are welcome on working days from 8 to 15 hours (8 AM to 3 PM o'clock), telephone number 02 313 7743. Telephone consultations are especially useful when the consulting party needs help with organizing the patient's care or with information on the criteria for referral. Written consultations are sent and answered through the electronic referral system of the hospital district.
